The most dangerous places in Islington according to police stats

Although many months have been spent in lockdown for Londoners, almost 17,000 crimes were committed in Islington already this year, latest police figures show.

According to data published by the Metropolitan Police, 16,891 crimes have been committed in the North London borough between January 1 and August 31 this year.

Finsbury Park was the ward with the highest number of crimes, however Bunhill and Caledonian are not far behind on the list. Hillrise registered the lowest number of crimes this year.

5. Highbury West - 1,116

Fifth on the list is Highbury West where 1,116 crimes have been committed already this year.

The most common crime committed in the ward was theft with 284 crimes, however this is followed closely by violence against a person with 277 incidents already this year.

The least common crime committed in the ward were sexual offences with 32 incidents.

4. Junction - 1,188

In fourth place is Junction where 1,188 crimes were committed between January 1 and August 31.

The most common crime committed was violence against a person with 323 cases which was followed by theft with 256 cases. Possession of a weapon was the least common crime committed with only eight cases.

3. Caledonian - 1,273

With just under a 100 more cases is Caledonian where 1,273 crimes have been committed this year already.

The crime committed most was theft with 389 cases followed by violence against the person with 358 cases. Similarly to Junction, possession of a weapon was again the least committed crime with only 11 cases.

2. Bunhill - 1,479

With more than 200 crimes committed, Bunhill is the area where the second highest number of crimes were committed with 1,479 incidents.

Theft was again the most committed crime with a whopping 576 reported incidents. This more than doubled the 279 violence against a person crimes which was second in the number crimes committed.

1. Finsbury Park - 1,522

In first place for the Islington area where most crime is committed is Finsbury Park with 1,522 incidents.

The most committed crime was theft with 466 reported incidents followed by violence against a person with 379 cases. Possession of a weapon was again the least committed crime with eight incidents only.

Across the borough, theft (4,840), violence against a person (4,122) and vehicle offences (1,703) were the three most committed crimes.
