Early Life & Parents
On September 22, 1994, the beautiful Zimbabwean American Actress Solea Pfeiffer came to earth in Zimbabwe but grew up in Seattle, Washington. Her father, James Pfeiffer, comes from a German and Scottish background, and her mother is African American; she, however, doesn’t know much about her ancestry as she was adopted at a very young age. Solea is proud of being a person of mixed race, as it is essential in today’s time, especially in the acting business, to show both diversity and authenticity in casting.
It is also revealed that both her parents are anthropologists and are currently teaching at the University of Washington. She had already set her theatre goals at a very young age; her musical life started at the age of 4, when she began violin lessons, being so impressed and inspired by the movie “The Red Violin” that this was all she wanted to do.
At the age of six, she took a liking to the theater and began attending all the summer camps in Cleveland; and never missed a chance to perform; she participated in school plays during her middle and high school years, and by the time she was 14, her voice training began, sadly she had to let go of violin, one love overcame the other. As time passed, she moved to New York to study musical theater at the University of Michigan.
She graduated with a Fine Arts degree and enrolled in the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. She was lucky enough to get her big break right out of college.
How did Solea Pfeiffer get her big break?
This young star got a life-changing role at the age of 21 when she was selected by Gustavo Dudamel himself to play the role of Maria in “West Side Story” at the Hollywood Bowl; this was possible after an artistic staff of the Los Angeles Philharmonic showed Gustavo a YouTube video of Solea performing live along with a bunch of local Seattle singers, he was so impressed by her command over her vocals that he selected her on the spot.
Pfeiffer also had an Off-Broadway show, “Sunday in the Park with George,” and later landed another significant role in “Hamilton,” as Eliza Hamilton. It was a big deal for her as she became a part of her first national tour, playing the dream role, being part of the Angelica Company.
They opened the show at the Orpheum Theatre, positive reviews came pouring in, and she went back to the Hollywood Bowl with the play, “Sondheim on Sondheim,” she went on to do a few Off-Broadway plays, like “Songs for a New World,” “Almost Famous,” “The Light in the Piazza.”
In 2019, another major project came her way; Solea was offered the role of Eva Perón in “Evita,” she was seen at the New York City Center, sharing the part with Maia Reficco.
Signature Theatre signed her for two plays, “Gun & Powder” and “Simply Sondheim,” this was, however, aired online due to Covid protocols. The pandemic did not stop; she is now back with her solo one-woman show, “You Are Here: An Evening with Solea Pfieffer,” where she will be talking about her racial identity and how she grew up trying to fit in and let’s not forget her big budget movie, “A Jazzman’s Blues,” opposite Joshua Boone and directed by Tyler Perry.
