Vicente was born on 17 February 1940 to his parents in the suburb of Huentitán El Alto in Guadalajara, Jalisco. He spent his early years on his father Ramon’s ranch on the outskirts.
His mother often took him to see the films of Pedro Infante and he picked up the guitar singing in the style of the ranchera singers he heard on the radio.
