Gary Koch is one of the most popular and richest Golfer who was born on November 21, 1952 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, United States. Koch was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 1952. He was raised in Florida. He was a winner of the Florida Open in 1969 as an amateur, at the age of 16 years old. He was crowned the U.S. Junior Amateur in 1970. He was a student at C. Leon King High School in Tampa, Florida. It was in 1969 that the King High golf team consisting of Koch, Eddie Pearce, Brian Hawke and Phil Reid took home the Florida high school championship, and set a record for scoring which lasted for thirty years.

Gary D. Koch (born on November 21st 1952) is an American professional golfer, sportscaster, and golf course designer. He has previously was a member of the PGA Tour, Nationwide Tour and the Champions Tour.

Koch took up an athletic scholarship that allowed him to attend his choice of University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida, where he was a part of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity (Florida Upsilon Chapter). When he was a student, Koch played for coach Buster Bishop’s Florida Gators men’s golf team in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) competition from 1971 until 1974. As an Gator golfer Koch was a four-time All-Southeastern Conference (SEC) selection, as well as three-time All-American. He also was a part of Gators teams which were winners of SEC championships during 1973 and 1974 as well as the NCAA Championship in 1973. In his own way the two-time winner of the SEC tournament (1973 and 1974) and was runner-up in the tournament behind Ben Crenshaw at the 1973 NCAA championship tournament. The Gators teammates included players who would later become PGA Tour professionals Woody Blackburn, Andy Bean, Phil Hancock and Andy North. Koch completed his studies at the University of Florida with the degree of bachelor’s in journalism in 1976 and was admitted into the University of Florida Athletic Hall of Fame as an “Gator Great” in 1978.

In preparation for play on the Champions Tour, Koch played some on the Nationwide Tour in his late 40s. After turning 50 in November 2002, he began play on the Champions Tour.
