9. Dorothy Mitchum died at the age of 94

The Delaware-born former celebrity wife died at Serenity House hospice in Santa Barbara, California on April 12, 2014, at the age of 94.

At the time of her death, she was survived by her younger sister Bette Compton, her 3 children, more than a dozen of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nephews including actor Bentley Mitchun and nieces among others.

Her death came after 17 years of her late husband’s death in 1997 at the age of 79. He also died in Santa Barbara, California following complications of lung cancer and emphysema.
